What Is LAW?
•Learning and Wellbeing is an initiative to support students in all aspects of their learning, students have a timetabled one hour period a cycle with their teacher to work together to help students gain the most benefit from their learning at FGHS.
•Throughout the year, students will actively participate in reflections on attendance, values, educational successes and relevant wellbeing issues. Teachers will facilitate and mentor students through the preparation of their Portfolios and Presentations for Authentic Assessment.
LEARNING
AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT for Years 7-10
•Oral Presentations of Portfolios- Students are required to participate in the oral presentation of their Portfolio to demonstrate their achievement in learning, quality work and employment related skills.
•What is a Portfolio? – This is a folder displaying students work and assessment tasks for each subject. Students are required to collect and organise their work for display in their Portfolio. During LAW, the teacher will facilitate the connections between assessment tasks and the concepts of learning, quality work and employment related skills to prepare for the oral presentation.
•What is the Oral Presentation? – A student discusses the achievements demonstrated in their portfolio panel consisting of a teacher, peers and sometimes a community member.
•How are the Oral Presentations Reported? Yearly Report Certificate.
•When do I present my Portfolio? Term 4 Weeks 5, 6 or 7.
